What is a Filter AND Why do I need to Change it?

When most of us think about vacuuming, we think about picking up the dirt on the ground and that’s basically it. There really is a lot more to a vacuum that most of us don’t realize.

All vacuum cleaners have filters and most of them on the market today are depth filters – they draw and capture particles inside the filter. Over time, the filter becomes clogged, which will reduce the airflow through the filter and can compromise its performance. Fine particles that reach the motor can cause overheating and wearing down of the vacuum’s mechanical parts through dirt and dust buildup.

So here you can see how important it is to change your vacuum filter on a regular basis – If they’re not changed, the filter can stir and spread dust and dirt throughout your home. If you or someone else in your home has allergies, you may want to pay close attention to how often you change your filters – and of course I’m going to recommend that you should vacuum on a regular basis to keep the dust to a minimum.

Clean the Air in your Home

One crucial reason to vacuum your home is for your health. Vacuuming isn’t just to keep your floors clean, but more importantly it cleans the air and dust that you can’t see with the naked eye.

With that being said, the importance of clean air in your home links back to what products you are using to make it “clean”. First off, It’s extremely important to change your vacuum filter on a regular basis, it’s usually every 6 months but that depends on how often you use the vacuum. If you only use the vacuum once a month then you can most likely wait longer to change or wash your filter. I’ve never met someone who only vacuums only once a month, but then again you probably haven’t either since you are reading this blog post! We can safely say you are in touch with cleaning your home environment and are asking yourself how you can make the air in your home cleaner.

I’m here to tell you that to clean your home air you NEED a clean vacuum cleaner filter. That should be the first item you check when you are about to begin vacuuming your space. The reason we enjoy selling Crucial Vacuum filters to our customers is because we know they will be able to wash many of the filters about three times before investing in a new one. With the easy washable instructions, we are assuring our customers the right to a clean home and air environment.

Please buy responsibly and buy at Crucial Vacuum. We appreciate your business and any feedback that you may have.

Feel Better with Natural Allergy Remedies

With so many allergy relief medications out on the market it can be confusing to figure out which medications to use, so sometimes it’s a possibility to opt for a natural remedy. We at Crucial Vacuum want you to feel your best at all times. We’ve found information that we believe will be able to help you feel better – The following remedies come from exitallergy.com:

EUCALYPTUS

Eucalyptus “calms coughs and relieves nasal congestion.”  It is often found in “cough and cold remedies, chest rubs, and various oils and liniments to relieve pain.”   Eucalyptus has the properties of an “antiseptic and a stimulant with expectorant and antibiotic properties.  Additionally, eucalyptus vapors clear “congestion and loosens mucus.”  Think “steam treatments.”  Also the reason that eucalyptus is used so often in lozenges is because it “increases the production of saliva to reduce the urge to cough.”

RED CLOVER

Red Clover is an asthma remedy when used in the form of a tea.  “It has antispasmodic and expectorant qualities.”

ALFALFA

Alfalfa is believed to combat runny noses, “sneezing, and itching present in allergic rhinitis,” often referred to as “hay fever.”  It is also believed to “nourish the nervous system and to calm the immune system.”

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar is “rich in vitamins E, A, B1, B2 and B6” and also has “potassium, calcium, and magnesium.”  If used in conjunction with a “chest compress,” it can reduce “the amount of mucus in the sinus cavities, soothes sore throats, and will shorten the duration of colds.”

LICORICE ROOT

Licorice root has been used as a cough remedy for quite some time.  “It should be used with caution by anyone prone to high blood pressure as excessive use of licorice will make hypertension worse.”  Licorice root has been used in teas to combat a cough and sore throat, such as Traditional Medicials Throat Coat Tea.

Make sure to consult a doctor before considering using natural remedies to see if they are a good option for you.

Crucial Housekeeping News

Some tips about vacuum cleaner maintenance are listed below:

Vacuum Bags:

Your vacuum cleaner bag should be changed if the bag is filled to the indicator line. While some vacuums have check bag indicator lights, it is recommended to change it when it’s no more than three-quarters full. It’s best to check the level of dirt in your vacuum cleaner bag before every time you use your vacuum cleaner.

Vacuum Filters:

A nice thing about vacuum filters is that you don’t have to change them as frequently as you need to change vacuum bags. If the filter shows signs of wear, or is excessively dirty or torn, it’s time to replace it.  When you buy a Crucial Vacuum filter you will most likely be able to wash the filter, use it a few more times and then replace.

It is best to change HEPA filters after six months or after the sixth bag change. Make sure that you check your owner’s manual – it will tell you where the filter is located and will have recommendations for your particular model.

Keep these tips in mind and happy spring cleaning! Remember that we at Crucial Vacuum offer free shipping, low cost – high quality products!
