Back to School: Tips To Keep Your Dorm Room Clean

Keep Your Dorm Room Clean

As the calendar has turned to the month of August, we already see signs of the fall season fast approaching. With this change of season, one of many things to come to mind here at Crucial Vacuum is Back To School – And Crucial Vacuum prides itself on helping families across the United States keep their living space clean and their air fresh.

Crucial Vacuum knows that most college students have greater things on their mind than clean floors, but we are going to drop some knowledge with five tips to current and incoming college students so they can feel clean and healthy throughout their college career.

Tip #1: Make Your Bed

Making your bed daily not only makes you feel cleaner, but it also is aesthetically pleasing and can make a big impact on how big your cramped dorm room looks and how big it feels.

Tip #2: Clean Your Sheets

Properly washing and drying your sheets keeps you healthy and leaves your bed fresh and allergy free.

Tip #3: Keep Your Closets in Order

Fold your laundry, hang up your clothes, and keep your shoes neatly in various assortments of organizers. This will prevent you from losing articles of clothing and doing excessive washes, wasting water, and using harmful chemicals for the environment more than you should! Be Green in College!

Tip #4: Clean Your Microwaves & Coffee Filters

We get it! You are in college dorm room and will probably eat a lot of ramen noodles and drink excessive amounts of coffee. But with that, you need to keep those appliances clean. A great way to do this is by using vinegar to clean out those dirty pieces of equipment.

Additionally, if you need any new coffee filters, we offer a great selection of reusable coffee filters available at great low prices that are environmentally friendly.

Tip #5: Clean Your Floors

Chances are your college dorm room floors are going to be covered in all sorts of unmentionables. Furthermore, we know that you are looking for a cheap vacuum that can just get the job done. Have hardwood floors in your dorm room? I doubt it…But if you do have wood floors, tiled floors, or laminate floors, we suggest the Sanitaire by Electrolux. Luckily we sell these filters, bags, and hoses (Alternative Beer Funnels) at great discount prices.

If you have carpet, Crucial Vacuum would suggest a Vacuum Cleaner! We suggest a lightweight, cheap vacuum such as the Eureka Optima or Crucial Vacuum’s own Crucial Swirl! Parts for the Eureka Optima are relatively inexpensive and the vacuum is small and light enough to be stored easily. Additionally, inexpensive vacuums such as the Crucial Swirl or the Bissell CleanView are a great choice and allow you to pocket that extra book money where it belongs, Beer Money!

Vacuums Suck! But cleaning doesn’t have to! It might not be the most exciting task, but have fun with it!

Having trouble with your current vacuum? You may need to replace your filters, belts, or a variety of other vacuum parts.

Extra Tip: Clean Your Bathroom

This one is especially for upperclassmen because they usually have private bathrooms! Routinely clean your restroom floors, sinks, shower heads, and tubs to ensure that you stay clean throughout your time at school.

So, College Students: There you go! Crucial Vacuums Dorm Room Cleaning Tips will keep you healthy and happy while you pursue your future goals! Happy Learning!

How to Wash Your Vacuum Cleaner Filter

Washing your reusable filter is an integral part of the upkeep of a well running, happy vacuum cleaner. And if your vacuum is healthy, you will be happy with the results you see!

One of the best aspects about being part of a company like Crucial Vacuum is our constant quest to further Crucial’s success while doing our part to help the environment. When purchasing from Crucial Vacuum, our customers can see that many of our vacuum filters from a wide variety of brands are both washable and reusable. Unfortunately, sometimes our customers do not know how to properly wash and clean their filters to ready them for reuse. Today, we will give step-by-step instructions on how to properly clean your filter to insure that your air stays fresh and clean!

Before and After Washing Filters

First things first, you should wash your vacuum every 3 to 4 uses! Doing so too often or not often enough can damage the filter and waste your precious time! If it is indeed time to clean your filter, follow these steps to fresh success!

Step #1: Find and read your vacuums manual! It will give you all the information you need! That’s it…..

Just kidding! But it is crucial to know the ins and outs of your particular vacuum.

Step #2: Take your filter outside! This will help avoid dust getting all over your house (which is exactly what you are helping prevent by doing this).

Step #3: Gently tap your filter on the side of the garbage to get out the particles trapped inside. This will get the majority of the dust out of the reusable filter.

Important Tip: Do not wash a single use filter, this will adversely affect the process and can destroy your filter!!

Step #4: Gently wash and rinse your filter with cool-luke warm water! Do not use any soap!

Step #5: Let the filter dry on an open surface for 24-48 hours.

Step #6: Once the filter is dry and clean, put the filter back inside the vacuum and it is ready to go!

Warning: Do not brush your filter with abrasive materials or scrub your filter between the pleats! This can ruin the vacuum.

Dyson DC49 Set To Be Smallest, Lightest Vacuum In Company’s History

Breaking news just in: Dyson announced the arrival of their newest vacuum cleaner, the DC49!

The Dyson DC49 will be the company’s smallest, lightest, and most technologically advanced vacuum to date. Dys0n’s come a long way in the USA with many iterations since they launched their first vacuum cleaner – the Dyson DC07 in the USA. This new release by Dyson is definitely something to marvel. Perfect for those city dwellers!

The vacuum is no larger than the standard sheet of printer paper and weighs less than six pounds

(Hang on to those dumbbells people)! Compared to the DC47 which is the previous Dyson ball vacuum model, this new vacuum is 30 percent smaller and significantly lighter. The Dyson DC49 vacuum is able carry all these features while still being the least noisy vacuum the company sells.

DC49 Smallest Vacuum

How did Dyson make this vacuum so small? Dyson was able to develop this vacuum with their new digital motor which offers Dyson the ability to shrink the size of the vacuum so significantly. But no worries Dyson groupies, this vacuum not only packs the same punch as the previous models, but actual exceeds the vacuum in suction capability and can pick up particles even smaller than the Dyson DC47 Ball.

How big is the dust bin? The Dyson DC49 has a dust bin that clocks in at .5 liters. While this is definitely a small size, this will allow the vacuum to be extremely light and portable to its users. Additionally, Dyson has assured its customers that it is the perfect vacuum for an apartment or a small home.

Unfortunately, the release of the Dyson DC49 Ball Vacuum is currently exclusive to the United Kingdom. However, we are willing to bet that this vacuum is headed to the good ole U.S. of A. in the next few months. While the price point might be high, this is definitely the perfect vacuum for those followers whose space is a premium and vacuum aficionados who hate too much noise! Dogs everywhere thank you!

For your current Dyson Vacuum filters, belts, and parts check out CrucialVacuum.com today! Stay tuned as soon as this vacuum is launched, rest assured we’ll have the replacement filters for this Dyson to back you up!

Planting a Tree for Every 1,000 Vacuum Filters Sold

Last year, we promised Crucial Vacuum dot commers that every time you purchase our brand filter for your vacuum, it went towards planting a tree.

We’re still guided by this simple mission this year as we continue our efforts: for every 1,000 Crucial Vacuum branded filters purchased, we’ll be planting a tree at another local farm. It’s a big job and we could not have done it without the famers as well as our customers. It’s our first full year of working hand-in-hand with Farmers to directly support their efforts and help turn their dreams into a beautiful reality.

We are part of a larger global movement by harnessing the power of internet shoppers to do good!

Crucial Vacuum Gives Back

Chad, founder and CEO of Crucial Vacuum, has announced that through this initiative the company has hand-planted the following trees with the Many Hands Farm located in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts.

Baldwin Apple on M111 semi-dwarf stock
Coxs Orange Pippin Apple on M111 semi-dwarf stock
Enterprise Apple on M111 semi-dwarf stock
Honeycrisp Apple on M111 semi-dwarf stock
King of Tompkins County Apple on standard stock
Liberty Apple on Bud 118 semi-dwarf stock
English Morello Pie Cherry
Evans Pie Cherry
Garnet Beauty Peach
Reliance Peach

Each planting site was prepped in the fall of 2012 with a couple wheel barrows of compost and a few lbs of various rock dusts, which will break down slowly over our trees’ lifetime to provide nutrients for them.

We are very excited to see peaches growing on the tree! Come fall we will see more fruit ready to pick and eat.

Filter Turns Into a Peach

The success of Crucial Vacuums’ philanthropic business model has led to the company continuing it’s tree planting efforts for the upcoming year. Chad claimed “There is much more work to be done. We’ve entered a new era of giving, and it’s been so rewarding.”

Next time you need a vacuum filter, consider Crucial Vacuum.
