There’s No Place Like Home: Consider Your Home’s Indoor Air Quality This Winter

Let’s face it, summer is long gone, fall is whizzing by, and winter is just around the corner. Winter means colder temperatures, shorter days, family time, and holidays. It’s not all bad!

The delicious aromas of holiday dinners fill the air as families gather to spend time together indoors. But that’s not all that’s in the air. If you haven’t changed your vacuum’s filter lately, there may be hundreds of harmful allergens and pollutants floating around in your house.

Did you know that the air in your own home could be affecting your overall health? Your home is supposed to be your safe place. But if you and your loved ones aren’t breathing clean air, your safe place can make you sick.

Indoor Air Quality and Your Vacuum Cleaner

Indoor Quality

We spend more time indoors than outdoors. Having high quality Indoor Air Quality  (IAQ) Is Crucial!  Did you know: if you don’t breathe you die? Of course you did! But here is a slightly more disturbing fact from the Environmental Protection Agency: poor indoor air quality can contribute chronic respiratory conditions like as asthma, allergies, and in extreme cases severe lung disease. Indoor air quality is not typically the forerunner of the “getting healthy” discussion, but improving it can have a significant impact on everyday life. Harmful gases, microbial growths, and tracked dirt all contribute to congestion and poor air quality – but you have a defense; it’s probably an upright, and sitting in your cleaning closet right now….Your vacuum cleaner! Indoor air quality is hindered by an infiltration of particles, pollutants and dust. But with a once-a-week cleaning regimen including an efficient vacuum and vacuum cleaner filter, you can eliminate pounds of contaminants from your home every time you clean. The efficiency of your vacuum, and in turn, your IAQ is dependent on your filter’s capabilities. A clean, new vacuum filter traps particulates within the machine. But a faulty inefficient filter actually kicks all the material back into the air. As you can imagine, indoor air quality and vacuum filter efficiencies are directly related. Indoor Air Quality is not just a luxury – it’s crucial. Use your vacuum once each week, and keep that filter in working condition. You know, if you like breathing and everything. Keep your indoor air quality pristine with a Crucial Vacuum Filter found here.

Crucial-Closure: Hoover Y HEPA Vacuum Bags

Ladies and Gentelmen I am pleased to present to you our newest product and first time manufacturing of the Crucial-Closure HEPA vacuum bags! You might be asking yourself “self, what exactly is a Crucial-Closure HEPA vacuum bag??!” Let me explain: These vacuum bags have a one of a kind closure that seals around the bag opening to keep the lighter dust particles from escaping the bag when removing it from your vacuum.

The HEPA bags fit your Hoover vacuum and are style Y. These bags are absolutely essential for all allergy sufferers. If you check out your older vacuum bags you will begin to notice that the lighter dust typically escapes the vacuum bags and recycles back into your air, forcing your allergies to start-up as well as making you work harder to clean.

What is a Filter AND Why do I need to Change it?

When most of us think about vacuuming, we think about picking up the dirt on the ground and that’s basically it. There really is a lot more to a vacuum that most of us don’t realize.

All vacuum cleaners have filters and most of them on the market today are depth filters – they draw and capture particles inside the filter. Over time, the filter becomes clogged, which will reduce the airflow through the filter and can compromise its performance. Fine particles that reach the motor can cause overheating and wearing down of the vacuum’s mechanical parts through dirt and dust buildup.

So here you can see how important it is to change your vacuum filter on a regular basis – If they’re not changed, the filter can stir and spread dust and dirt throughout your home. If you or someone else in your home has allergies, you may want to pay close attention to how often you change your filters – and of course I’m going to recommend that you should vacuum on a regular basis to keep the dust to a minimum.

Practice a safe cleaning ritual and get your vacuum products from us here at Crucial Vacuum. Take care!
